Hey there — I’m Robbie Janes, and I’ve been skateboarding since I was 9 years old.
I grew up obsessing over skate videos like Cheese and Crackers, Bag of Suck, and Yeah Right! — and yeah, I watched Grind, Jackass, and Viva La Bam on repeat, too. Skateboarding wasn’t just something I did — it shaped who I am.
While I never went pro, I did spend a few years managing a Zumiez here in Canada, where I got to talk skating and gear with riders every day. I also studied journalism in college, which led to the creation of Boardcoast — a place where I could combine my writing skills with my lifelong love of skateboarding.
Here at Boardcoast, I break down gear reviews, help you learn new tricks, and offer honest advice on how to build or buy your next skateboard. Whether you’re just starting out or customizing your tenth setup, I want this site to be a helpful part of your skate journey.
